So you may or may not be aware of the new Mechwarrior game that's been out of beta for about a year now. Some of us oldies have been playing it a bit, and with the new large scale battle mode (called Community Warfare) out, we could really use some new people to drop in to matches with.
I fiddled with Shadowplay the other day and took some footage of me and PyroTechnics playing a bit.
What you're seeing is me piloting the smallest currently available Battlemech, called the Locust. That thing is fast, small, and usually dies in a flaming ball of fire when a bigger mech looks at you funny.
The video was a bit choppy, so I'll probably turn down the quality a bit and record some more matches with bigger mechs in the near future.
The game is F2P, so you can hop in without any investment to see what's up, but do keep in mind that eventually you'll have to pay for some things, like mechbays to house your growing collection of Battlemechs.
Ultimately it would be nice to get a relatively good sized group (maybe even a full team of 12) and hook us up on some VOIP to bring the hurt on those that would invade our space, but realistically the game has a pretty steep learning curve so it might not be for everyone.

Here's some more fantastic clips from Pyro
The UI is flickering there a bit, some compatibility issue with steam overlay and recording software... but it'll get better!
There's some nice synergy there, around 1:15 you see Pyro and me gang up on a clan Assault mech, two smaller ones to take down the big one. Pyro tanks his shots with his Cataphract Heavy mech while I swoop around in my Light mech to drill in to his backside. You'll also see Jirec tear things apart on his Jagermech with a bunch of autocannons.

It can't really be called an MMORPG. It does have some progression elements typical to RPGs, but I think a closer analogy is probably Planetside combined with Battlefield. The games are always a 12 vs 12 max, so no huge battles. The new faction warfare game mode hit beta about a month ago. That's still limited to 24 players, but instead of a single mech everybody brings a dropdeck of 4 mechs which they use one after the other when the previous one is destroyed. These battles also carry some more significance, since you're always battling for control of a specific planet to defend or expand your faction's territory. Khaze, can I add you for some serious co-operation?

It's definitely not pay to win, but paying for things like premium time and certain kinds of mechs that incur a c-bill bonus (in-game money) will help you move along faster to get new things. Some of the content is locked behind a cash paywall, but it's nothing that would give a clear edge over other players.
You can add me in-game too, I go by Khaze there aswell.

Speaking of Assaults, here's me in a Battlemaster.
This is about as close to a textbook example, that I can think of, of how to not force an engagement in an unfavorable position. The opposing team climbed on the mountain at the center of the map and pretty much had a killbox set up there. Many teams would have tried climbing up the mountain anyway, and 90% of those teams would have died. It later turned out they had 4 100-ton Direwolves in their team - would've been a massacre. So we doubled back and went north, luckily they were impatient and basically ran in to our killbox in turn.

Even more Battlemaster
We were down 1 to 4 kills at a couple of minutes in, but still managed to recover. Was a tight match, but in the end we lost. I messed up and overheated big time around 4 minutes in, as a result of which I exploded from excess heat. Great match, though.

Didn't know that song had an original, that's how much I know about todays music I guess. Hehe... But yeah, horrid song, though still funny to see those mechs do some weird dancing. I hate the Atlas mech, but in that video it's sooooo adorable! ^^
Also really loved that Alpine Peak game! Still not used to see me fighting in videos, but it's a learning experience that, I can do better! ^^

Me and Pyro played some now during an event, we had some great battles and won most of them. Right now you can win currency that you normally have to pay with real money, if you play well enough, it's going on until the end of the month. I had a perfect game with my little Locust, it ended like this! It was an even game and I was left alone against 4-5 enemies all hurt, I took some help from my base who fired at them and then went in for those kills. It was really brutal lol, got most of them with ease, but then there were 2 of them who were hunting me a bit and almost got me. The last bit I had a duel with a heavy mech, he took my leg off and ran away to hiding. He gave me a bit time as he was trying to go around me through some buildings as cover, so I was walked really slow to a new position, predicting his move... I had a red belly with no armour left to protect me, he only needed to hit it once to kill me, while he had an orange weak spot that'd kill him with if I hurt it good enough. Then when the classic draw duel was about to come, I fired my weapon first to weaken his spot even further, then he spotted my new position and fired at me, which I took on my side, were I had armour left as a shield, when I turned to defend my belly. To then turn back at him again and fire the last shot on his weak spot! Truly epic game that one!
