What ever happened to it? Was THE most played map back in the day, but its non-existant now. Call in Mulder and Scully methinks... Some old screenies I found when rumaging through my computer:

It was dismissed because it had BIG bugs and it lagged like hell due to npc han, falcon and beee1. Falcon in DS causes lag, imagine it with 2 ships and han-in-carbonite.

Dont remember it lagging at all. Only bugs i remember was han being pushed off the sides - easily corrected and roof camping, again easily corrected.

It was coded by someone outside the MBII team who was extremely good with non laggy textures. I love cloudcity, it's a pity it wasn't revamped to suit RC3.

-It didn't lag in the old builds (neither did DS) -Now every map with NPC ship (i.e DS) lags -There was ALOT of bugs, wallbugs every now and then...
I miss the map too, but they should remove teh ships.

i can actually only remember one wallbug.. the one in the small tunnel.. and besides the 2 bugs lego already mentioned, there are no others, i think. cc was one of my favourite maps, right after t4 and lunar.. but it was removed because the creator of the map forbid the further use of it in mb2.. i don't know if the team was just pissed, or whined a bit, or was in a snit but they gave their okay and haven't used it anymore.. I enjoyed the few times i played it after b16 (?), when it was up on our server, or when i was still sw. btw, i don't have any problems at all with ships causing lags, neither in rc3, nor in the builts before.

CC was still in b17 rage... It was removed in b18. It was the first map i ever played on mb. It was on Spirits Within... Good OL TIMEZ I miss it.

Completely forgot til now - remember the pit? That little gap so you could get to the bottom without dying full of dekas, healing jedi, mandos and ETs with vacuum guns...good times ;D

light, it b17 was now the first built including cc.. only before, it was a bit more buggy.. do you guys remember the b15 version? with this bridge somewhere.. i can't really remember, have played it only once or twice back in b15..

Hated CC.
It got dropped because the person who made it withdrew his permission to use it.
It didn't lag because the textures were ugly as hell.

I still have cloudcity. Regardless of whenever you like the textures. CC has the most fun complex clanwar tactics of all maps. Camping beee sux, and attacking camping imps sux. Camping the middle sux. But dynamic positions fall back, attack, fall back, attack > imps any day. Which leads to aggressive encounters all over the map.

I didn't like CC neither, the main area (main corridor from reb spawn to imp spawn and side) was however a great fighting ground. But when the fight came outdoor at the roof, it was either just a bloody mess for those who wasn't a Jedi or endless roof-camping.
I believe it became popular just because it was the first map that had great space and the objective didn't matter much as it was just to go out and kill.
Even if I didn't like that map so much I still would like to see a map with the same main area layout, objective, removal of ships, fixing the roof (like making it access able for normal gunners with stairs or just remove it) and whole new textures (make it into something else then Cloud City).
